EPA 608 Type I

EPA 608 Type I is a portable industry credential issued by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency — Section 608 of the Clean Air Act requires certification to handle refrigerants. It is recognised by employers wherever the trade is practised, independent of the school that trained you.

It proves that the holder has been examined against a published standard — knowledge on a written exam and, in most cases, an observed practical performance — and has met the standard of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

At VoTechWorks the credential is earned inside the programs that carry it (Appliance Repair): the universal core, one competency course per curriculum area with a written exam, an observed skills demonstration and a signed log each, a capstone, an externship, then exam preparation and the credential exam itself, sat at the school's authorized testing center or the body's own site.

It leads to entry-level employment in Business & Cross-Cutting, counts toward the next credential on the stackable pathway, and is the first line on the résumé an employer reads.
